Cape Hatteras U-boats

It is amazing what they can do with all the technology now. Do you know the name of the ship, I have never heard of a train engine being found.
A diver I know gave me a queen helmet shell with a chunk of rust from the Dixie Arrow stuck to it and still smells like burnt oil from the fire.
My grandfather told me a story about one off Cape Hatteras that was surfacing and captain would give the ships a thumbs down before sinking them.
He said they were coming back from a secret mission testing new dive bombers in Cuba and it surfaced in the middle of the fleet and they opened fire.
Told me the sub had a dragon painted on the side and thought they got it with the guns then the destroyers came in started dropping depth charges.
He said oil came up with a lot of dead fish and they never had anymore trouble from that sub. It was never found and might be an unknown out there.
